Off the bat, Duchess Leo has a pleasant aura about them. It's easy to see, rather quickly, that they're the type of band you can really sink your teeth into. Some songs have a sort of mellow, self-pondering energy to them, with brilliant, chime-like open-tunings, delicate string arrangements, and well constructed vocal melodies throughout. The combinations of tones and collaborative work on Golden Gray, their latest album and first full-length, make for something I'm sure you will enjoy.
The deluxe edition of this album, up for grabs today, includes These For Those: Volumes 1 and 2, which include live recordings and works between their last EP and their first full length, documenting what sounds like it was quite the fun ride. Duchess Leo successfully takes folky qualities and a knack for the ambient and unpredictable, and makes pretty spectacular music. Listen to all 20 tracks for yourself for only $4 while you can.

"Buchler and Ryan are guys to watch – and it sounds like we’ll have plenty of time for a-watchin’; they told the Village Voice that they’re on the second year of a “50-year plan...” -The Red Alert
